Our Contributors Bootcamp helps anyone become a part-time contributor...and get paid while doing so, by matching them to exciting web3 work, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Meet the Cohort: David (davk.eth)

David (davk.eth) |📍 Miami, FL 

David is originally from Paris, France, and is currently a Global Insights Manager at Google. Prior to his current role, he launched a VC-backed startup for 4 years and worked at a VC for 2 years. He's also the author of his own web3 newsletter, and has taught digital marketing and luxury strategies at business schools like NYU, Columbia, FIT, and HEC Paris.

We caught up with David and asked him a few questions:

What’s your favorite thing about web3?

Web3 today reminds me of web2 when it started. I love its enthusiasm, its openness, and its spirit of vanguard. We are pioneers building the next big thing while having fun and making friends on the way.

You have a career in digital marketing for luxury brands—what kind of overlap do you see between the luxury market and web3?

Luxury brands are amazing not only at selling but also at igniting the desire to buy - which is something that every web3 project should be seeking as well. This is why I believe that web3 can benefit from learning some pages of the luxury playbook (about branding, marketing and strategy) while luxury can also learn from web3 on many aspects (community, digital scarcity, ...).

What drew you to Layer3’s Contributor Bootcamp?

I see Layer3 as a fantastic onramp to working in web3. The cohort brings guidance and some structure to my exploration journey and introduces me to like-minded people to interact on the way. 

Are you involved in any DAOs or web3 communities? 

I'm trying to learn as much as possible about the various parts of web3. On this journey, I’ve contributed to a few learning DAOs like Odyssey DAO (I’m participating to the latest cohort of their Web3 bootcamp) and the Invisible College DAO.
